New week – new post!
This time I write about a topic which you may not expect on our blog, but since I am a big fan of watching TV shows I wanted to share my current favorites! They vary from time to time and I also find it very difficult to bring it down to a top 5. Maybe they will be completely different when I’ll do another post in a few months.
5. Shameless (US)
Oscar®-nominated William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum star in this fiercely engaging and fearlessly twisted series. Chicagoan Frank Gallagher is the proud single dad of six smart, industrious, independent kids, who without him would be…perhaps better off. When Frank’s not at the bar spending what little money they have, he’s passed out on the floor. But the kids have found ways to grow up in spite of him. They may not be like any family you know, but they make no apologies for being exactly who they are.
I like the TV show a lot! It’s very funny and you learn to love the characters for their strengths and weaknesses! They show you that even if life gets though you still can make the best out of it! My favorite character is “Lip”.
Season one chronicles the life of Pablo Escobar from the late 1970s, when he first began manufacturing cocaine, to July 1992. The show relates the main events that happened in Colombia during this period and Escobar’s relationship to them. It is told through the perspective of Steve Murphy, an American DEA agent working in Colombia. The series depicts how Escobar first became involved in the cocaine trade in Colombia.
The story of Pablo Escobar. Definitely worth watching! This show will be one of my favorite shows of all time. It’s greatly produced, the actors are perfect, they speak Spanish and it makes this whole story so authentic. You definitely need to like stories about drug lords and crime in general if you watch Narcos.
3. Better Call Saul
Set six years before he became Walter White’s lawyer, Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny.
If you watched Breaking Bad you’ll be familiar with some of the characters of the show. Actually I didn’t like season 1 & 2 a lot but season 3 was amazing. I really would like to hear what you think about this show?
2. Game of Thrones
Set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, Game of Thrones has several plot lines and a large ensemble cast but centers on three primary story arcs. The first story arc centers on the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms and follows a web of alliances and conflicts among the dynastic noble families either vying to claim the throne or fighting for independence from the throne. The second story arc focuses on the last descendant of the realm’s deposed ruling dynasty, exiled and plotting a return to the throne. The third story arc centers on the longstanding brotherhood charged with defending the realm against the ancient threats of the fierce peoples and legendary creatures that lie far north, and an impending winter that threatens the realm.
Everybody knows it! Everybody loves it! One of the most popular shows ever and it deserves this popularity! It’s totally thrilling and the whole fantasy world is well thought through. I always watch it together with some friends and it’s like a big event for us! Together with delicious meals or snacks we dive into the world and come back to reality one hour later.
1. Stranger Things
(Netflix press image)
Set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s, the first season focuses on the investigation into the disappearance of a young boy amid supernatural events occurring around the town, including the appearance of a girl with psychokinetic abilities who helps the missing boy’s friends in their own search. The second season, titled Stranger Things 2, is set a year after the first, and deals with attempts of the characters to return to normal and consequences that linger from the first season.
I freaking love this show! It’s my current favorite show and I can’t wait for season 3 to air in autumn! I love the setting of the 80’s and the amazing main characters which are mostly played by kids! Also the genre mix between sci-fi, comedy and thriller is perfectly hit! It’s something different but I am a big fan of it!
I would love to hear your current top 5 in the comments below! Or do you have thoughts on mine? By the way, Anouk has a slightly different taste in tv shows, she especially likes “Sense 8” for example. We’re both pretty sad, that there won’t be a third season.
Hear you next week,
