Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of you, wherever and whatever you are celebrating today!
We have our very first Christmas away from home and our families this year, this is exciting! I would say it’s both a bit sad not to see our loved ones today but also a very nice experience to celebrate Christmas together with good friends 🙂 We’ll have a delicious all vegan Christmas dinner (what irony it is that so many people celebrate love on this day but eat something that had to be killed for them) and just a cozy evening with singing Christmas songs, sitting together and giving some presents.
Today we would like to share some of our most loved travel hacks and some ideas for food that you can take on a trip, whether it’s a roadtrip or a flight or whatever. Let’s start!
The Christmas feeling really has arrived for us. We recently got our first cute little Christmas tree together, I will make our own Christmas ornaments, we listen to Christmas songs and of course we already baked delicious Christmas cookies! 🙂 Besides that we really enjoy our last remaining weeks in Stockholm with our friends and are already a bit sad when we think of leaving Sweden soon.

Currently we are pretty busy since we have a lot of people visiting us. Anouk’s and my family came right after another and we wanted to show them the best sides and sights of Stockholm! Södermalm, Gamla Stan, Monteliusvägen, Hermans, Botanical Garden, and so on. It seemed like it would be a never ending list with spots we want to share but time is always running. Even we still have to see some places, café’s and restaurants here in Stockholm. But we still have a bit more than two months ahead of us…
Lets switch to this weeks post theme: Zucchini patty recipe! The second recipe which got featured in the THRIVE Magazin in the US. Still proud to have a four site long article written about me in a printed magazine which is available in stores all over the US.
It happened a lot again this week! We had a friend from Germany visiting us and Anouk & I visited the holiday park “Gröna Lund” today. It was a beautiful day and it was also the last chance during our stay in Stockholm to visit the park. The reason for that is the winter break. The park is not the only reason why you definitely feel that winter is coming. Since the time change it’s already dark at 4 pm and it gets also colder each day. We are so excited how it will continue.
But now lets talk about the main topic in this post. This week we have something special for you: An apple pancake recipe! This is our first recipe ever on this blog. The recipe was also published on a vegan food and lifestyle magazine called “Thrive” in the US.
Since we mostly wrote about travelling the last weeks, we wanted to write about delicious food again..:) As promised, we continue the series of new products we discovered. Let’s see what we found in Swedish supermarkets! You can also get some of the products in Germany or other countries.
- Frozen Kanelbullar (Kvarnvingen)
Let’s start with something that is traditionally Swedish. If you’ve ever been to Sweden you probably know about the Swedish “Fika” where people hang out after lunchtime and enjoy a cup of coffee and something sweet, typically kanelbullar. In Sweden there’s even a national kanelbullar-day! But even if you’ve never been to Sweden, you most probably tried these cinnamon buns already. Of course it’s nice to enjoy selfmade cinnamon buns. However, we wanted to have something that we could quickly make in case friends or family come over and they want to try them. We found this package at Lidl and it cost us around 2€/17 Swedish Crowns for 12 pieces. And what to say – they’re awesome! Smaller than the ones you get at café’s in Stockholm but very tasty, vegan and definitely worth the price 🙂
Today we want to introduce you all to a new series of posts that will continue to pop up on our blog in the next months. We thought it would be cool to show you some products we newly discovered or bought for the first time and tell you our honest opinion about them 🙂
So here we start with the first five products, which were all purchased at a Swedish Lidl and didn’t cost more than 3€/30 Swedish Crowns per item.
Those of you who have been to Sweden already might know about the traditional Swedish delicassy of chokladbollar (chocolate balls). Consisting of sugar, cocoa, cooking fat, vanilla and some optional drops of rum or coffee, these sweets remind me of an unhealthy version of bliss balls 😀
At Lidl, we found some pretty cheap vegan chokladbollars and tried them for the first time. They are okay… The consistency is so so sugary that it feels really scrunchy when you bite into them, which we didn’t really like. It was nice to try them but we won’t buy them again, just too sweet for us! Also when we tried homemade chokladbollars in one of our favourite café’s here, we realised how much better they taste! Therefore we would recommend you to try some homemade ones instead of storebought chokladbollars 🙂
